Changes just keep coming from Boise State media coverage.
The latest casualty in the war of Bronco broadcasts is play-by-play man David Augusto, who had called Bronco football games for the past three seasons. He will be replaced by Mark Johnson, a sports reporter turned news reporter with KTVB. Johnson called Bronco football games in 1987 and 1988.
But you can't get rid of Augusto that easily!Augusto will remain on the broadcasts as a sideline reporter.
Although, he will be replaced for non-conference games by the Carl's Jr. star mascot.

The one argument I have FOR Augie, is: At least he gives a damn. Which is more than you can say about: Teddy Ballgame, Vandal Tester, and Bengal Dzuback. While his presentation and lack of polish stand out, he didn't constantly call out wrong names/numbers (Teddy), make snide remarks and eat too many donuts after beating his wife (Awww Dave!), or act like he was in a state of general malaise in order to pick up that week's paycheck because he had nothing better to do (Dzuback). Johnson just likes being in front of the camera (see adasheriff.org) so he'll put on a good show, but does constant butt-kissing really make for good tv? At least it will be a good excuse to keep him away from the tailgate parties and Suds before he drives home at night.
ReplyDeleteWe are dealing with local Boise personalities here, so we really can't be expecting too much. Too bad Howard Cossell isn't a Boise native (and alive).
