WIR: spring football has sprung

Week in review (WIR) celebrated the return of Boise State football by refreshing Chadd Cripe's Bronco Beat blog every five minutes on Monday, hoping for an update. It was worth waiting until 6:50p.m.

See you next week, Bronco fans.

OBNUG's Public Enemy #1

20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Public Enemy

Everyone needs someone to hate. Bush Hamdan hates modern media. The University of Idaho hates success. Orlando Scandrick hates wearing shirts.

But what gets OBNUG's goat? Nothing, really. We are a pretty laid-back group of BSU bi-partisans. And we don't want to be. We want to have an enemy, someone we rip into on a daily basis. Sure, we poke fun at Utah State, but it's not the same. We have some serious angst and no one to direct it at.

Well, all that is about to change.

Over the next few weeks, we will be picking a villian for this website by profiling several loathsome individuals. Here are the candidates:

  1. Dan Hawkins
  2. Colin Kaepernick
  3. Sean Renfree
  4. Rob Akey
  5. Mike Prater
Let the search for OBNUG's Public Enemy #1 begin!

Boise State links

There are a lot of little things regarding Boise State football today, so we thought we'd throw them all into one post. You know, to neutralize our carbon footprint.

Andrew Woodruff to the CFL?
Canada's premier football league has its eyes on BSU senior offensive lineman Andrew Woodruff. Pretty sweet, eh?

Drisan James' outlook with the Oakland Raiders
Just hook 'n ladder, baby! James, the forgotten part of BSU's miracle finish, is fighting for a roster spot with the Raiders. We're sure Chris Carr will put in a good word for him.

Idaho Press-Tribune photos
This made our morning. The IPT has a photo slideshow of spring practice, and there is some pretty great photography. We were as surprised as anyone.

Vinny Perretta interview

Spring football practice: Day Three

The Broncos were back on the practice field yesterday, not that the Treasure Valley media cared. This is as much detail as we could get from Thursday's practice:

Boise State coach Chris Petersen wore the “LP” patch that the basketball teams are wearing Thursday at practice. Petersen put the patch on his hooded sweatshirt. The patch honors Boise State senior associate athletic director Lisa Parker, who is battling cancer.

Sweet scoop, Chadd Cripe.

Cripe's story details a new ad campaign featuring a brief clip of the Broncos (we first heard of it here) and a few paragraphs about the linebackers. We assume that a lot of attention is being put on the men's basketball team (they play Utah State at 6:00pm tonight), so we should learn to share the spotlight with them from time to time...even at the risk of not getting our John Gott fix.
